Hayder's met his mate, there's just one little problem, she's allergic to cats.
How degrading. Stuck babysitting a woman because his alpha said so. As Pride Beta, he has better things to do with his time, like washing his impressive mane, hunting down thugs for fun, and chasing tail--sometimes his own if his lion is feeling playful.
But his babysitting job takes an unexpected turn when the woman he's assigned guard duty over turns out to be his mate.
A female threatened by an outside wolf pack.
A woman he wants to call his own.
A mate who doesn't fall for his charm.
Usually Beta's leave the roaring to the Pride's alpha, but in this case given his level of frustration, he might have to make an exception. And if anyone doesn't like it, they can kiss his furry tail.
Rawr!

My Review:
This one started with a RAWR and kept me reading til the last page. I completely adore Eve Langlais' books. They never fail to have me laughing out loud and shaking my head.
I am loving this series from her. The lions are so over the top and prissy but all alpha male that you can't help loving them. Hayder is so full of himself but a great guy. I love how he wouldn't let Arabella cower from him and brought out her feistiness and let her know that she wasn't broken. I love the banter between them and their chemistry was great. Even if she was allergic to him!
This was fast paced. With lots of action, and tons of humor. A great book to loose a few hours in. I can't wait for the next story and more of the Lion's insane antics.

Meet the Author

Hello, my name is Eve and I am a Canadian author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens.
I should warn you that I possess a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. I enjoy strong alpha males, and shifters. Lots of big, overprotective shifters. I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Do you like something a little darker? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
I love to write, and while I don't always know what my mind is going to come up with next, I can promise it will be fun, probably humorous and most of all romantic, because I love a happily ever after.

The line between fantasy and reality blurs when a late night gaming session goes from playful to smoldering.
Tasha’s not looking for love, but she doesn’t mind just looking… and maybe a little fantasizing. Her two best friends and weekend AD& D buddies, Seth and Ryan, are the perfect guest stars in her fantasies. When a late night gaming session with the three goes from silly to verbally scorching in an instant, Tasha wonders if her imagination is enough to keep her satisfied long term.

Then her ex’s money mismanagement catches up to her in the form of draining her bank account, her job is threatened by a mistake that points to Ryan, and Seth takes his side. If Tasha can’t move past her trust issues long enough to uncover the truth—both with herself and the men she’s falling for—she’ll wind up broken-hearted and just plain broke.

My Review:
So I know very little about Dungeon's & Dragons but holy hell who knew it could be this hot! This book starts with a bang and kept my interest all the way through.
The relationship between Tasha, Ryan, and Seth is wicked hot! but not all sunshine and daisies. There was some drama that definitely kept the story interesting and not all about sex.
Lots of humor, drama, and panty melting sex. This was one fun and fast read.

Teagan Walker gets around. Ask anyone—hell, ask her. She'll own it with a smile. But beneath that smile is a girl whose parents didn't want her. Whose grandparents raised her without affection. But he's got moves of his own, and before the night is out, he strips her of way more than she means to reveal—without removing a single piece of clothing. That comes, too, of course. EXCERPT

"We should talk," he says, his tone serious enough to cancel out the pride I felt for my own a few seconds ago.
"About?" I keep my gaze on his for approximately half a second before I can't take it anymore and I study the mug in my hands instead. Tall and blue, ceramic. Probably not dishwasher safe.
"Last night."
My chest tightens. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who'll be pissed we didn't bang… But I don't strike him as the type of girl who's named Teagan. We all have our secrets.
"Listen," I say. "About that… Sorry I passed out. I don't usually make promises I can't keep."
"You didn't make me any promises last night." His voice is sharp, and I can't help but look up. There's a muscle clenched in his jaw, his sexy, sexy shadowed jaw. "You don't owe me—or anyone else—anything."
"No shit." I don't get where he's going with this, or why.
I'm not sure he does either, because it takes him a few moments—and a few sips of coffee—to speak again.
"You told me—wait." He breaks off, shaking his head, and nervousness swirls into panic in the pit of my stomach. I told him what? A fake name? Does he know? When he looks at me again, his gaze is so direct it's startling. "You don't even know my real name. Let's start there."
Oh my God, he does want to discuss names. He knows I lied.
Should I tell him the truth? Laugh it off like I thought he knew I was joking?
He walks toward me and my stomach clenches for too many reasons to name.
I grip my coffee mug like it'll shield me from any awkwardness.
It's not working.
At all.
And then he's in front of me, watching me so studiously I slide a hand across my face in case there's something stuck there.
"I'm Alec," he says, sticking out his hand. I check for, but don't find, any scars on this one.
Don't tell me, is what I mean to say. But what slips out is, "I thought the girl last night called you Alex?"
"Probably to irritate me. We hold no particular fondness for one another." He says it casually, like it weighs nothing in his mind. Still, I wonder why—and am tempted to ask—but then he continues with, "Anyway. I'm Alec Chambers."
And his full name echoes through my brain, bouncing around and, instead of fading, growing louder with every iteration.
It's officially worse.
So. Much. Worse.
I know his name.
I know who he is.
"Cool." I take his hand, offering the limpest shake of my life and letting go as soon as possible. "Do you have any headache meds or anything?" I gulp my coffee so fast it scalds my throat. "Got a crucial hangover."
Got a crucial hangover? What am I? Some teenage surfer? Why don't I throw up a hang ten sign while I'm at it?
But he takes the bait. "Probably somewhere upstairs—I'll go check."
I don't even wait for the relief to hit. I get the hell out of his condo the second he's far enough away not to hear his door shut.
The glass elevator seems so much more appropriate this morning. Almost like the universe is handing me a dose of the snide sarcasm I use so spectacularly on my own. Everything I wanted to keep hidden is about to be made clear, whether I like it or not.
Fuck.
I went after a fairy tale, but I didn't get it—and the stupid fucking clock just struck twelve anyway. Here's my Cinderella moment, fleeing before I return to tatters before his eyes.
But this time, the prince won't need a glass slipper to find me.
Because Alec Chambers?
His father is the CEO of Chambers & Britt.
I know this for a fact because my starting position at the company is to be the second assistant to the CEO's son, while he's home for the summer, studying for his MBA from fucking Harvard. And that son's name? Yep. It's Alec Chambers.
I'll see him again on Monday.

This is their story.
Contains adult content and subject matter. Significance is prequel to Gravity, book one in the Artistic Pricks Ink series and a companion novella to Solitude, book two.

My Review:
Wow.. Just wow. This was heartbreaking and beautiful. I read Gravity before I read this one so I knew some of what Mitch dealt with but reading this made me fall for him a whole lot more.
Mitch is so sweet and frustrating and just an amazing guy. He has faults but that makes you love him even more. Becky is great. She's so strong and funny. I couldn't help but feel for her and fall for the two of them.
This was a very emotional, beautiful, and incredibly sad addicting read. I can't wait to read more in this series.

Spotlight & Review: Fairyproof by Constance Phillips

Fairyproof
by Constance Phillips
Genre: Romantic Fantasy

After her parent's death and an unwanted proposal, fairy Monique seeks refuge in the human world, even though her brother has warned her of the dangers. She believes Hiding will be a breeze. She can control any human with a flirtatious smile and an attraction spell. Until she meets Daniel Elliot, the only human who's immune to both.

My Review:
I had some trouble really getting into this one. It wasn't a bad read but I wasn't as enthralled with it. The storyline kind of lagged for me and was pretty predictable. But it was overall a sweet romance.
Monique was very likeable but I just didn't connect with her as much. She relied so much on her looks and when they didn't work for her it was like she was completely lost. I liked that she fought for herself and wasn't willing just to go with her brothers plans for her. Daniel was very sweet. But at times I just wished he'd make a move on Monique or something. He's a really nice guy but kind of lack luster.
It also changed points of view to Monique's brother Kieran who pretty much just came off as a jerk. There were circumstance's as to why he acted that way but I just couldn't feel empathy towards him. I just felt that the characters needed a bit more work and lacked depth.
It's an interesting and different take on fairies. But this one just wasn't very exciting for me.

Tour & Review: Brotherhood of Misfits, Book 1: ROC by Khai L. Bayne

]

Title: Brotherhood of Misfits, Book One: ROC
Author: Khai L. Bayne
Genre: Romantic Suspense, Mystery
Tour Host: DRC Promotions

Synopsis:

What would you do with a second chance at life?
Would you go back to the same things that you were doing before, or would you embrace that chance and take a new path?
Being the byproduct of a single parent home growing up, I learned quickly that life wasn’t easy and it damn sure wasn’t fair. I was faced with a choice back then; continue to stand back and watch my mother struggle with working three jobs to pay bills, put food in our stomachs, and clothes on our backs or do something about it. I chose to do something about it and for three years everything was going well, until the day that my life changed forever.
When I met Jethro-Elijah ‘Eli’ Shepard, he told me that just because I wasn’t given a choice in how my life was dealt to me, didn’t mean that I’m not given a chance. He showed me that no matter what people say about you and what life throws your way, that you always have the option to either accept it or defy the odds to become something greater.
My name is Archibald ‘Roc’ Rochester and when I was seventeen, I was given my second chance. How did it turn out? Well, you’ll just have to read my story to find out.
********This book is intended for mature audiences. It is a Fucked Up Ever After so the road to the end is not all pretty shit and unicorn farts. It contains scenes of domestic abuse and violence. If these types of scenes are a trigger or sensitive subject to anyone, please do NOT purchase. This book also contains sexual situations that are not suitable for anyone under age.********

My Review:

This was a very fast paced, sexy, with some suspense, and some dirty talking sexy alpha bad boys read!
I really love the characters. The story is mainly about Roc and Kenika both were dealt with pretty hard childhoods but have bettered themselves. Kenika really kicks butt. She's a very strong woman who doesn't take and crap. She had an abusive ex who hurt her really bad but she's bettered herself and really has turned into an amazing woman. Roc had a rough childhood. His dad left him and his mom and she had a hard time making ends meet so Roc took up with a bad crowd with the best of intentions. He was given the chance to change and make something of himself and he took it and works for an amazing bails bond company with other people who wanted more for themselves.
The story gives you just enough on the other characters to make sure that you definitely want to read the rest of the series. I'm fascinated with Sev and Lonny. I want to know so much more about them. Also Tobias and Jinx. I'm very curious as to what happened between them.
There was some action, suspense, and drama. I did feel that some of the conflict was resolved very fast. It had the hurry up and end it feel but overall it was a fun read and I cant wait to read more in the series.

Spotlight & Review: Make Me Whole by R.C. Matthews

Make Me Whole
by R.C. Matthews
Genre: Romantic Suspense/Menage

For Jake Hanson, it was the perfect solution to a deep darkness. The accident took more than the use of his legs; it took everything that made him feel like a man. He needs their ménage. It puts him on the path to healing. With Jessie and Chad, he can conquer anything…he thinks.

Jessica Hanson did it all for her husband, to make him feel whole again. She didn’t want a threesome. At least, that’s what she believed in the beginning. But when she realizes that she can’t imagine life without both her husband and his best friend by her side, she’ll question everything she thought completed her.

FBI agent Chad Wilson couldn’t believe he agreed to his best friend’s proposal. There were too many things beyond his control that could go wrong. But when things go right, he is forced to admit to the best months of his life. Yet on the heels of his greatest joy comes his greatest fear. He’s endangered them all, and the clock is ticking.

They’ll push the boundaries and blur the lines, coming face to face with one of life’s hardest truths: Sometimes to become whole, you have to break.

My Review:
Wow so I fell completely in love with this story and read it in one sitting. I'm normally very wary of Ménage's but I thought I'd give this one a try and it definitely didn't disappoint.
This was very much a story of healing. I can't say I've read too many stories dealing with people with disabilities and how they have to learn to deal with them. How R.C. handled this was very believable and the Ménage aspect definitely was realistic. It was a very emotional read with lots of heart, heat, and some suspense.
I loved all the characters for different reasons. I loved seeing how Jake changed so much and started to believe in himself again and realize that just because he doesn't have use of his legs doesn't make him any less of a man. Jessie is very strong and loving. She agreed to try the ménage because she loved her husband so much and was willing to do anything to make him happy. Chad is just dreamy. He plays like a bad boy but he's really a great guy. I love his tough love with Jake. They all balance each other really well.
The chemistry between them all is amazing. And the sex is off the charts HOT! This was a first from R.C. Matthews for me but definitely wont be my last read from her!

Guest Post & Tour: Guarding Angel by S.L. Saboviec

Hello, everyone! This is S. L. Saboviec, and I’m pleased to be a guest today on Carpe Diem. I’m author of the Adult Paranormal novel Guarding Angel, and I’m here to share a deleted scene.

The book is about a Guardian angel named Enael, who has trouble getting her human Wards to listen to her. When she meets and falls in love with a fellow Guardian, Kaspen, she doesn’t expect to discover his ties to a demon, named Yasva. Unsurprisingly, Yasva, doesn’t want Enael and Kaspen together, so she begins harassing Enael’s Wards.

This scene was deleted from early in the book before Enael and Kaspen meet. It’s about Enael’s Ward, Daniel, who is obstinate and rarely listens to anything she says. We removed it because it was more back story than necessary.

Daniel was insufferable from the moment he was born. It was a frigid January day in 1728, but the women in the Maryland cabin found the air stifling when his mother gave one last push and he slid into the waiting midwife's arms.

When the rotund woman smacked his bottom, Daniel refused to breathe. She turned him right-side up and pulled open his eyes. Finding nothing of concern, she put an ear to his chest. "Something is wrong," she mumbled to the wispy girl standing at her elbow. She smacked his bottom again.

I could feel his pulsing soul inside. His heart beat. His lungs were healthy. What's happening in there? His thoughts came to me a jumbled mass of abstract concepts: too cold, too loud, too bright. "Breathe, Daniel," I said. A rebellious thought pushed at me. My hand brushed his forehead as, oblivious to my presence, the midwife whisked him to the table.
"What is it?" called his mother. Her Guardian, also unseen by the humans, crossed the room to stand at my elbow.

The midwife laid Daniel's purpling body on the table. She tipped back his head and peered down his throat. Indignity rushed from him. "Daniel, breathe or you're going to die," I said. He refused. His mother's Guardian stretched a hand toward him, but I blocked her. "I'll handle it."
I reached into Daniel's chest and tapped his lung. Only then did he convulse, gasp, and let out a strident wail. Obstinate at one minute old.
"Beautiful sound!" cried the midwife as she grabbed a wet cloth from her assistant. She wiped away the birthing blood before handing him to his mother.

No one thought Daniel's wailing was beautiful an hour later. The screaming grated on the women's nerves and created a soup of annoyed human emotion.

I checked Daniel and found nothing physically wrong. He was just unhappy: irritated at being scrubbed and swaddled, miffed that the thrum of a heartbeat was gone, cross that he was passed from person to person before being nestled at his mother's breast. First he won't breathe, now he won't stop crying…

Daniel was going to be a difficult human to guard. This wasn't the way to prove myself ready for ascension.
